It’s studio season for me (and I’m loving every minute of it)!
Since closing the Belushi Pisano Gallery on the Vineyard for the winter season, I’ve been in my new studio in Newport, RI. It’s been a nice change to be able to paint almost everyday. I’ve been inspired by many things lately, but mostly I’m fixated on working with gold leaf – I’ve been using it now for the last year, but it was recently that I decided to do a whole series on this material. In my new work, you’ll see gold leaf burnished into the piece as is or I’ll add layers of paint on top of the gold. In addition to using gold leaf, I have also gone back to shooting landscapes for this series. Local landscapes have always inspired me – I’ve been so lucky to live in some of the most beautiful places around the world. So, I’m taking this time to explore new areas of New England – grabbing time during these quiet winter months to discover the little gems of places I’ve never been. In addition to the landscapes, I’m also adding more floral images to this new body of work as well.
Here’s a sneak peak of what you’ll be seeing within my new series!
